Tehran: Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi arrived in Tehran on Sunday to attend a trilateral meeting with his counterparts from Iran and Iraq. The conference is scheduled for July 14 and will focus on issues related to border security and management of pilgrims traveling between the three countries.
He was received at Imam Khomeini International Airport by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, Pakistan’s Ambassador Mudassir Tipu, and other diplomatic officials, Radio Pakistan reported.
Naqvi and Momeni held a meeting to discuss border coordination, security, and facilities for pilgrims. According to Radio Pakistan, Naqvi said the trilateral meeting would address operational gaps affecting Pakistani pilgrims and improve cross-border arrangements. He conveyed messages of goodwill from Pakistan’s leadership to Iran’s Supreme Leader and President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Pakistan requested the conference following earlier discussions between the two countries. Recent measures include 24-hour border openings during Muharram and Arbaeen, accommodation for Pakistani pilgrims in Mashhad, and a hotline to resolve issues during religious travel.
Naqvi is also scheduled to meet President Pezeshkian during the visit.
