Russia has proposed to help negotiate de-escalation between Israel and Iran following recent hostilities, the Kremlin announced on Monday after a phone call between President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Moscow said it was willing to "facilitate in every possible way" a diplomatic solution to tensions, including efforts to resolve the long-disputed Iranian nuclear issue. The call came amid fears of a wider regional conflict, with Israel and Iran engaged in cross-border strikes and proxy confrontations in recent weeks. The Kremlin did not specify whether Netanyahu accepted the offer. Israel has historically viewed Russia as closer to Iran, a key ally in Syria, where Moscow maintains a military presence.
