Karachi: The US Consulate in Karachi has barred its staff from visiting high-end hotels in the city after receiving a threat alert.
In a security alert, the embassy advised its staff to avoid the crowded areas, keeping a low profile, and remaining alert, especially in places frequented by foreigners.
Following the alert, the UK also updated its travel guidance. British nationals are now advised against all travel to parts of Pakistan.
The updated UK advisory cites a high threat of terrorism across the country, including in major cities like Karachi.
"Armed groups such as TTP, ISKP, and Baloch separatists continue to carry out attacks. Foreigners, public spaces, and government buildings remain potential targets" advisory said.
UK authorities have also warned of kidnapping risks, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Travelers have been urged to remain alert, avoid large gatherings, and review their plans.
